Take a chance on the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus and have the time of your life when it presents "ABBA — Greatest Hits" at Balboa Theatre this weekend. ABBA, the Swedish pop group that had its first hit in the 1970s, created dozens of hit songs over the years, including "Take a Chance on Me," "Dancing Queen," and "Mamma Mia!" Settle in for some fun with the 200 singers, dancers and musicians in the chorus as they bring you plenty of sparkle and laughs to go along with those melodies.
Movie Night (April 2018)
This spring, celebrate the music of the movies with the 200 singers, dancers and musicians of the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus. Relive unforgettable moments like Selma's Academy Award®-winning civil rights anthem "Glory," La La Land's poignant "City of Stars" and Willy Wonka's wistfully wonderful "Pure Imagination." Magic reigns with Rufus Wainwright's soaring "Hallelujah," Adele's ode to James Bond in "Skyfall" and the Bee Gee's iconic "How Deep is Your Love" from Saturday Night Fever.

There’s nothing like the moment when the lights dim low, your popcorn is buttered just right and the big screen flickers to life with promises to sweep you away to another world. We love the movies! But, we just might love the music from the movies even more. From Kermit strumming his banjo while questioning rainbows, to Maria and the Von Trapp children serenading a lonely goatherd, it’s the music we often remember long after “The End” appears.
Soloist Kori Gillis and rapper Kenny Perry bring the audience to their feet backed up by the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus as they perform "Glory" from the movie Selma at our recent Movie Night concert at the historic Balboa Theatre, downtown San Diego.

Hallelujah, Leonard Cohen, SDGMC quartet. Four guys from the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus sing Leonard Cohen‘s Hallelujah in the subterranean parking lot of the gym theater complex in Hillcrest.
" This was a last minute decision to participate in our talent show during our retreat to Palm Springs this past Oct 2018. I already had the costume that I sewed almost 20 years ago and thought it would be great to sing an opera song in it. I chose Nessun Dorma, an aria by Giacomo Puccini, with two days to quickly learn it. The microphone stopped working after the first 5 lines so I had to project my voice. It was a lot of fun to sing this song that evening. "
